HEXIS is a performance company based on the values of friendship and solidarity. We translate depressing politics into a delirious language of magical realism.

We draw from current political issues, research how they are experienced by communities, and integrate these perspectives into absurd and entertaining world-making.

A six-headed team based between Berlin, Leeds and Porto.

HEXIS;
a Greek word meaning disposition, less in the passive habitual sense, and more in its acquired and active version.

The material shifts in the body, caused by engagement in a repeated action over time. The vertebrae of a miner. The impression of a stream of water on the surface of a rock. The movement of our cosmic trash roaming the Low Earth Orbit.

The emotional and political baggage that we hold and carry.

6-HEADED TEAM

Mudlarks search the muddy shores of the River Thames at low tide for treasure.
We take a similar approach to art-making. We comb through the everyday, searching for entry points into the eye of the alley-cat- tiger and once we get there, we dance around in romantic (but also quite stinky) poetry.
Viva the rubbish dump of our modern-day-shit-show! Pleased to meet you!

Marianne

Director, writer, choreographer, performer, (don't) wanna-be poet.

There she was. In miniature form. Peacefully sleeping inside an egg shell. When. Ding! Dong! The bells of Bow rung loudly, causing the shell to crack, hatching her into the hustle and bustle of East London. At 18 she left the capital to seek her fortune, but ended up working in the arts. Active as a choreographer and director Marianne has presented performances in 17 towns and cities around the world. With L. Pöhlmann she co-directs LAUTSTARK, an ongoing workshop series for young people in collaboration with the Theater an der Parkaue (Berlin). She designed and lead the site-specific module at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD, Leeds 2021-2024). Marianne has a BA in contemporary dance from NSCD (2015) and an MPHIL in Creative Writing and Philosophy from Swansea University (2022). She is currently training to be a Kundalini Yoga Teacher (Babacool, Yoga Alliance Professionals). Visit her website for more.

Loukas

Writer, social studies and artistic researcher, family cook.

Mr Troll grew up (and up!- he’s pretty tall!) in the fecund hills of Thessaloniki. The moist atmosphere provided excellent conditions for brain development, meaning that despite moving to Berlin at the tender age of 19, Loukas has maintained the capacity for coherent thought. His BA Thesis from Humboldt University explored the media coverage of the murder of queer activist Zak Kostopoulos aka Zackie Oh. In 2025 he completed an MA in Sociocultural Studies from Viadrina University Frankfurt (O) in which his thesis examined the compossibilities of Lacanian psychoanalysis and Marxist social theory.

Multi-disciplinary artist, somatic facilitator, tzatziki Papa.

Francisco

Once upon a time (before Air BNB), in the Land of pre-gentrified Lisbon was born a boy with a huge appetite for bright blue ice cream. A taste and appreciation for quotidienne curiosities has continued into adulthood, where Francisco, now a multi-disciplinary artist and audiovisual engineer works at the intersection of sound, fiction, and embodied research towards a poetics of everyday life. Mr Petrucci is a Somatic Movement and Voice Educator (Somatische Akademie Berlin 2026) and has an MA in Sound Studies & Sonic Arts (Universität der Künste 2022). He is a regular collaborator as an audiovisual + installation engineer to KW Kunstwerke / Berlin Biennale, Julia Stoschek Foundation and Ensemble KNM. As a certified Deep Listening® facilitator he holds regular sessions at Zabriskie Buchladen, Berlin. Recently asked in an interview if he had any tips for aspiring artists he answered: bubble-gum-ice cream is good. Visit Francisco's website for more.

Lighting designer, technical director, actor, Mr Green Fingers.

Nico

It was all over the Chilean news. A baby has been born with an umbilical cord made of optical fibers. Not surprising then, that this baby would grow into a man capable of taming even the deadliest of cables. Known on the streets as The Cable Whisperer, Nico capitalizes on what mother nature blessed him with by working as a lighting designer for dance and theatre in collaborations that have taken him all over Europe and South America with artists including Howool Baek, Lilly Pöhlmann, Glanz und Krawall, Jony Easterby and Keisuke Sugawara. He is co-technical director at Acker Stadt Palast (Berlin) and a freelance technician at Ufer Studios, Balhaus Ost and TD Berlin (and others). Nico also trained as an actor at Universidad mayor Santiago de Chile.

Belisa

Performer, playwright, creative producer, mostly tucked away in Porto

Born in a Portugese port wine cellar she was raised on bread, ocean water, and pinus pinaster. In highschool she studied dance and drama, just like the kids in Fame, except she was in Portugal, so no glitter, instead there was a lot of Fernando Pessoa poetry and Russian Ballet classes. At 18 London called and she answered getting a BA (hons) in Drama and Film Studies from Queen Mary University of London and a MA in Creative Producing from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Working as a performer, creative producer, theatre maker and playwright, Belisa has since accepted her fate as a creative in permanent EU transit and made peace with her carbon footprint. Alongside other projects, she is co-directing Maratona, a Porto-based theatre company, with her longtime friend Mariana. Yes, she only collaborates with people named Mariana/Marianne.

Physical theatre actor, very authentic but also enjoys making masks....

Marco

In the foothills of the Chilean Andes, a child, who not called Andy, but rather, Marco, was born. Since then, in an acting career spanning 20 years and through playing many roles, he has been re-born countless times. His practice draws from physical theatre, anthropological theatre, mask work and devised creation. Marco has been involved in collaborations across South America and Europe including Anna Kpok, notsopretty Collective, Saadia und Siglinde Companie and Company La Fuga. He studied physical theatre and devised creation at CABUIA Argentina (2017) and Arthaus Berlin (2019).
